Frequently Asked Questions
Does my roof need to be brand new before installing solar panels?
Not necessarily, but it should have enough life left to avoid removing panels for a future roof replacement, which we can assess during your consultation.
If you do want to put your brand new solar panels on a new roof however, we’re a great name to have in your back pocket.
What happens to solar panels during a hurricane?
Quality panels are rated to withstand high winds when properly installed, and we mount every system to manufacturer specification for exactly that reason.
How does net metering work with my utility company?
When your panels produce more electricity than your home is using, that excess power gets sent back to the grid, and your utility company credits your account for it.
Those credits can then offset electricity you pull from the grid at night or on cloudy days, which is part of what makes solar a meaningful long term investment rather than just a daytime power source.
What factors affect how much energy your system actually produces?
A few things affect how much energy your system actually produces.
- Your roof's orientation and angle determine how much direct sunlight your panels receive throughout the day.
- Shading from trees or nearby structures can meaningfully reduce output even on an otherwise sunny roof.
- The number and efficiency rating of the panels installed directly affects your system's total capacity.
Do solar panels increase my home's value?
In many cases, yes, especially in a state like Florida where energy costs and storm resilience are both real concerns for buyers. A paid off system tends to add more value than one still being financed, though the exact impact depends on your local market and the specific system installed.
